Splitting methods for SU(N) loop approximation

چکیده
The problem of finding the correct asymptotic rate of approximation by polynomial loops in dependence of the smoothness of the elements of a loop group seems not well-understood in general. For matrix Lie groups such as SU(N), it can be viewed as a problem of nonlinearly constrained trigonometric approximation. Motivated by applications to optical FIR filter design and control, we present some initial results for the case of SU(N)-loops, N ≥ 2. In particular, using representations via the exponential map and ideas from splitting methods, we prove that the best approximation of an SU(N)-loop belonging to a Hölder-Zygmund class Lipα, α > 1/2, by a polynomial SU(N)loop of degree ≤ n is of the order O(n−α/(1+α)) as n → ∞. Although this approximation rate is not considered final (and can be improved in special cases), to our knowledge it is the first general, nontrivial result of this type.

Close-to-optimal bounds for SU(N) loop approximation
In [6], we proved an asymptotic O(n−α/(α+1)) bound for the approximation of SU(N) loops (N ≥ 2) with Lipschitz smoothness α > 1/2 by polynomial loops of degree ≤ n. The proof combined factorizations of SU(N) loops into products of constant SU(N) matrices and loops of the form eA(t) where A(t) are essentially su(2) loops preserving the Lipschitz smoothness, and the careful estimation of errors i...
متن کاملSplitting of some more spaces
In (4) we showed how to stably split certain spaces OX built up from a ' coefficient system' ^ and a 'II-space' X. Via an approximation theorem relating particular examples to loop spaces, there resulted stable splittings of Q.~LX for all n ^ 1 and all (path) connected based spaces X. In this short sequel to (4) we shall introduce and split a new construction CX. Via an approximation theorem, t...
متن کاملElectroweak two-loop contribution to the mass splitting within a new heavy SU(2)L fermion multiplet
New heavy particles in an SU(2)L multiplet, sometimes introduced in extensions of the standard model, have highly degenerate tree-level mass M if their couplings to the Higgs bosons are very small or forbidden. However, loop corrections may generate the gauge-symmetry-breaking mass splitting within the multiplet, which does not vanish in the large M limit due to the threshold singularity. We ca...
متن کاملSchwinger - Dyson Equation for Supersymmetric Yang - Mills Theory : Manifestly Supersymmetric Form
We study our Schwinger-Dyson equation as well as the large N c loop equation for supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory in four dimensions by the N = 1 superspace Wilson-loop variable. We are successful in deriving a new manifestly supersymmetric form in which a loop splitting and joining are represented by a manifestly supersymmetric as well as supergauge invariant operation in superspace. This is f...
متن کاملComments on Perturbative Dynamics of Non-Commutative Yang-Mills Theory
We study the U(N) non-commutative Yang-Mills theory at the one-loop approximation. We check renormalizability and gauge invariance of the model and calculate the one-loop beta function. The interaction of the SU(N) gauge bosons with the U(1) gauge boson plays an important role in the consistency check. In particular, the SU(N) theory by itself is not consistent. We also find that the θ → 0 limi...
